This little fawn was born at the foot of the steps by our deck in a flower bed.  When born, the fawn is not strong enough to walk or run and is very vulnerable.  It's mother will leave the fawn lay alone in the daytime, and come back in the evenings to feed and nurture it.  The newborn fawn has no scent, or odor, and laying perfectly still, its camouflage coat protects it from predators. They can come right up to it and even sniff it, but will not realize it is there.  We will watch it for several days and occasionally it would stand, stretch, and look around, then lay back down.  Normally after about 4 or 5 days it gains enough strength and the mother will retrieve it and they will disappear into the night. It's beautiful.
