On Laurel Knob Road

On occasion an artist will come upon a location you just don’t want to leave. This was such a place. A nice shady spot, a bubbling book, a beautiful little covered bridge, all together on a warm summer day in the Smokey Mountains near Cashiers, North Carolina. The explosive white of the bridge with light airy shadows was such a great contrast from the full rich green surroundings. Across the road, a local farmer had just watered the fence row lined with rose bushes. I was so comfortable here I spent two days plein aire painting a couple scenes from the picturesque setting. |
