On one of my exploration weekends I was touring the back roads and
country side not far from my studio when I come across an interesting
old lane, seemingly not often used and half covered with grass.
Overwhelmed with curiosity, and nosiness, I turned in and drove about
a quarter of a mile which meandered around and dipped to the bottom of
the hill where it ended just a little past this huge old barn on the
right. I immediately was captured by the interesting beautiful textures
and variety in the old sandstone foundation, and the weathered barn
siding. It was telling the story of it's survival through the years,
effected not only by its constant use but also by the extremes of sun
and dampness. I knew this would be fun to paint in any medium.
